Albert Andrew Bishop, 84, of Frankfort, died t 7:46 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Terre Haute, to Caleb C. and Elsie Alice (Weiss) Bishop, both deceased. He married Jane L. Hodgen March 19, 1960 in Frankfort. She preceded him in death March 23, 2005.
Mr. Bishop moved to Frankfort from Terre Haute in 1948. He was a conductor for the Nickel Plate Railroad for 11 years, an outside Carpenter for Kramer Lumber Co. for 12 years, and retired after four years as city building inspector for Frankfort. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Legion, and VFW, and was a former member of Moose.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, and served as a city councilman for four years.
He is survived by three daughters: Rebecca J. (Jeff) Bowman of Lebanon, and Lisa A. (Jay) McKinzie and Annette L. (Ron) Toney, both of Frankfort; two sons: John G. Bishop of Belgium and Philip J. (Dawn) Cormany of Frankfort; nine grandchildren: Jaysa and Aylisa McKinzie, Amanda and Ashley Cormany, Kristen and Caralyn Rich, Andrew (Sarah), Rodney & Hunter Toney; and one great-granddaughter: Kaylin Toney.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Rosemary OâHara; and one brother: Gerald W. Bishop.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at Genda Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home, with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery with military burial rites.
