Albert E. Becker, Jr., 70, of West Lafayette, died at his home on Thursday, October 25, 2012.
He was born September 5, 1942, Waukegan, IL, the son of Albert, Sr. and Martha Kearns Becker.
Albert moved to Moran as a child, attending Owen Township Grade School and Junior High and graduating from Rossville High School, and later moved to West Lafayette. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University in 1972.
Albert married the former Judith Sabo; she preceded him in death. On July 30, 2009, he married the former Deborah West; she survives.
He was a machinist; Albert retired from TRW in the commercial steering division and then worked for BASI for 61/2 years. He received two patents for power steering in semi trucks. Albert was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and belonged to Power & Steam Engine Collectors Club, attending all steam and power tractor shows. He enjoyed collecting antiques.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Jason) Skeel of West Lafayette, and Suzanne Bennett of Otterbein; step sons, Billy Joe (Angela) Rood of Kokomo, and Bruce D. (Laura) Rood of Kokomo; step daughter, Julia Ann (Edward) Moore of Logansport; brother, George (Terrie) Becker of Houston, Texas; sister, Anne (Mike) Baily of Bloomington; grandchildren, Evan Ehrman, Brett Ehrman, David Burke, and Tiffany Burke; and step grandchildren, Michall Halnse, William Halnse, Christine Halnse, Emily Moore, Isaac Rood, Abigail Rood, Kiara Haynes, Alazya Wilson, and Luke Rood.
He is also preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Albert will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in Kilmore Cemetery in Kilmore.
