Alice I. Miller Gascho, 97, of Delphi, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Anthony Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born September 30, 1927, in Tippecanoe County to Willis “Bill” and Bernice (McCoy) Grassmyer. She married Paul Miller on April 18, 1948. He preceded her in passing on September 24, 1995. She later married Kenneth Gascho on December 27, 1997. He preceded her in passing February of 2008.
Alice was a 1945 graduate of Monitor High School. She worked as a babysitter and then for Alcoa. She then opened Pyrmont Village Upholstery Shop with Fern Metzger and ran it for 20 years. She was a member of Pyrmont Church of the Brethren where she served as the pianist and was always active in the church. She served as a 4-H leader, belonged to the Clay Harmony Home Ec Club, Calico Cut Up Quilt Club, and was in the first class of volunteer EMT’s with the Rossville Ambulance Service. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, quilting, raising roses and reading.
Alice is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Miller, Donald (Peggy) Miller, Andrew (Janna) Miller, Karen Rothrock, and Betty (Michael) Hatfield; daughter-in-law, Abbie Miller; several grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Paul Miller; sisters, Marjorie (Doyle) Miller, Frances (Orville) Hathaway and Janis (Wayne) Zook; In-laws, Earl and Mary Jo Miller, Anna Mae Miller and Mary and Jack Lentner.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, from 4 to 7pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19, at 10am at Pyrmont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Guy Studebaker officiating. Burial will follow at Pyrmont Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s honor to Pyrmont Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
