Andrew William âAndyâ Ehrmann, 54, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
He was born December 1, 1960, in Minneapolis, to Richard and Leona Zuber Ehrmann; they preceded him in death. On June 28, 1986, he married Brenda Buckingham-Ehrmann; she survives.
Andy received his BA from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, his MA from University of California Davis, and later pursued his PhD in Modern American Poetry at Purdue University. Andy taught composition at the college level for 20 years, most recently at Indiana University Kokomo. Andy was an avid reader, poet, birdwatcher, nature lover, tomato grower, gourmet cook, and rose tender. Above all, he was a caring and compassionate father and husband, chief cook and bottle washer of the Ehrmann home, and a survivor.
In addition to his wife, Andy is survived by his children, Daniel Ehrmann and Lauren Ehrmann, both at home; and one brother, Perry Ehrmann of Minneapolis.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Frankfort, from 4:00 â 6:00 p.m. A celebration of life to honor Andy will follow in the sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Fisher officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Andyâs name may be made to Clinton County Literacy Program and Clinton County Cancer.
