Annajayne Whiteman, 79, of Flora, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at her home.
She was born August 25, 1935, in Muncie, the daughter of John Breese and Wanda B. Curtis Breese Buskirk. On December 20, 1953, she married R.J. âDickâ Whiteman in Muncie; he survives.
Annajayne graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. While Richard was serving in the US Navy for 20 years, they travelled and lived in numerous states before settling in Flora in 2005. Earlier in their married life, she lived on Midway Island and in Puerto Rico. Annajayne worked several jobs while living in Yorktown before she opened and operated a gift store specializing in knitting and counter cross-stitching. She was a former member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church in New Jersey, and Walnut Street Baptist Church in Muncie. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Pilotâs Club. Annajayne enjoyed quilting, counter cross-stitching, and her two cats and dog. Many of her designs decorated their home.
In addition to her husband, Annajayne is survived by her son, John (Carol) Whiteman of Indianapolis; daughter, Katrina (Tim) VanDusen of Lake Village; and three grandchildren, Noah Green, Jaden VanDusen, and Sam VanDusen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Chaplain Virgil Barker will officiate. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Gardens of Memory in Muncie. Memorials in Annajayneâs name may be made to the Alzheimerâs Association.
