Arthur Eugene Simpson Sr.

Arthur Eugene Simpson Sr., age 84 of Frankfort passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 5, 1933 in Frankfort to Orville Eugene and Frances Marie (Zook) Simpson and was raised by Luther and Lela Howe.

Arthur was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was retired from Alcoa after 37 years of employment and where he was in the “25 Year Member Club.” Arthur enjoyed spending time outdoors; whether hunting, fishing, gardening or searching for wild berries or mushrooms. In his later years, he liked to look at the trees and birds from his porch.

On July 7, 1956 in Frankfort, Arthur married the former Bonnie Jo Haynes with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bonnie survives with their children, Arthur (Carolyn) Simpson Jr. of Frankfort and Darla (Rodney) Haynes of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 grandchildren,  Ryan (Melissa) Simpson, Brooke Lucio, Derek Simpson, Desiree (James) Vincent and Natasha Simpson; 7 great-grandchildren; Arthur’s brother Dennis Harlan of Tipton and sister Carol Painter of Frankfort.

He was preceded in death by his son, James “Jim” Simpson; one brother, Jim Harlan; one sister, Pat Shaw and cousins whom were like brothers, John, Charles, Harvey and Gerald Howe.

The funeral service for Arthur Eugene Simpson Sr. will be at 1:30p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort.  Interment will follow at Bunnell Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-5:00p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
