Atlas Marie Clear Foust, 98, of Lafayette, died at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Louise Skidmore (husband: Claris).
Born June 20, 1912, near Lafollette, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Corden and Texie Belle Brown Clear. She lived in Harrogate, Tenn., for many years.
Her marriage was to Clennie Claude Foust on Sept. 23, 1935. He died March 18, 1959.
Mrs. Foust, a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, reading, especially her Bible.
She was a member of the Pump Springs Baptist Church in Harrogate, Tenn., and in her youth sang in duets and quartets, played organ and piano and served as church secretary.
Surviving are three other children, Lonnie Foust (wife: Sue), Helen Ricks (husband: Vincent) and Regina DeYoung (husband: Randell).
Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Foust Coffin; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; a niece; and 5 nephews. Preceded in death by 2 sons, Norris Kenneth Foust (wife: Ann) and Ray Foust, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
