Barbara Faye Howe, 76, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2024, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born December 5, 1947, in Tazewell, TN to Clyde and Della (Fultz) Smith. She married John R. “Bob” Howe February 25, 1967, and he survives.
Barbara was a graduate of Frankfort High School in 1966. She then went to Indiana Business College. She worked various jobs over the years, but her pride was taking care of her family and home. She loved being a mother and a wife and embraced the role of grandmother and helped raise Kayla. She loved making family trips up to the house on Lake Freeman, listening to Elvis music, and reading books, especially her Bible. She was a lover of animals. Barbara was a member or the Eagles Lodge and attended New Life Assembly of God.
Along with her husband of 57 years, Barbara is survived by her children, Pamela Howe, Dorval Mark (Angie) Howe, Dusty Howe; brother, Fred (Kathy) Smith; sisters-in-law, Sue Smith and Sue Howe; grandchildren, Kayla (Michael II) Sexton, Jimmy Wessell, Ramee Collins, Matalyn Faye Howe, Zack Howe; and two great grandchildren, Hudson and Magdalene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Doug Smith.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Bunnell Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Wesley Manor and IU Hospice for their loving and wonderful care given to Barbara. Your kindness and compassion helped make a very difficult time a little easier knowing she was being cared for in a great way.
