Barbara J. Barkley

Barbara J. Barkley, 67, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette. She was born in Danville, Illinois on June 8, 1953 to Charles and Julia (Fern) Ridgley. She married Donald Barkley on August 9, 1982 in Lafayette. He survives in West Lafayette.

Barbara graduated from Benton Central High School in Oxford. She retired from Marsh Supermarkets in West Lafayette after 42 years of employment. Barbara had been a member of the Brady Lane Church in Lafayette where she enjoyed their many church activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, going to casinos and the many episodes of “I Love Lucy”.

Surviving Barbara are a son, Donald (Abby) Barkley of West Lafayette; step daughters, Bridget Smith of Frankfort, Donna (Terry) Holt of Lafayette and Tresa (Skip) Patterson of Frankfort; brother, William (Patti) Ridgley of Lafayette; grandson, Xander Barkley; step grandchildren, Damon Holt and Nikki, Krista and Cody Louks; nieces, Angela (Gary) Sexton, Amy (Chuck) Wenrick and Amber (Jason) Walker.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Philpot and Nina Dutton; and brother, Paul Ridgley.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 11am – 2pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Jeff Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the Bunnell Cemetery at Frankfort.

In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks. Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
