February 17, 1937 — March 15, 2011

Betty J. Vaughan

Betty Jo (Schultz) Vaughan, 74, of Lafayette (Buck Creek) crossed over to be with the Lord on March 15, 2011.

Betty was a proud and devoted wife, mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma (Me-Maw).  Betty was born February 17, 1937 in Lafayette, Indiana to Mildred and Christopher Clint Schultz.  She had 5 brothers, Harold Schultz, Charles Schultz, Donald Schultz of Texas, David Schultz and Bob Schultz (deceased).  Betty had 1 sister Sandy Schultz Hack of Florida.  Betty’s loved sisters-in-laws were:  Dorothy (Harold), Mary (Charles), Shirley (Don), Nancy (David), and Betty’s loved brother-in-law was Stan (Sandy).  Betty had half-brothers, a half sister, a step-brother and a step-sister. She had many nieces and nephews that she held close to her heart.

She leaves behind, to cherish her memory:

Her beloved husband Charlie to whom she was married to for 54 years.  They resided in Buck Creek for 45 years “out on the farm”.  He will miss her dearly in the years to come.

Two Children that she loved very much:  Daughter Terri Vaughan Hindenberg from Westfield and a Son Doug Vaughan from Lafayette.  Their lives will never be the same.  She takes with her a huge piece of her two granddaughter’s hearts, Kristi Hindenberg and Shelly Hindenberg Mann and a major piece of her grandson’s heart and soul, Trenton Vaughan.  She will be sadly missed by her son-in-law Greg Hindenberg and daughter-in-law Judy Vaughan, Brandon Mann who is married to granddaughter Shelly, and the future wife, Aimee, of grandson Trenton.  Betty was a great-grandma (Me-Maw) to precious Jaycee age 6 and Jack age 2.  These two little ones and their thoughts, words and actions brought millions of smiles and laughter to Betty.

Her family was her major love, but Betty enjoyed the outdoors and all it offered!  Nature was Betty’s link to GOD and HE spoke to her often though the flowers, stars, butterflies, birds and trees.  She loved to cook, and her home was her castle.  Her castle had a ‘little prince” kitty and his name was Mango.  He was the highlight of her last few years and he gave her a lot of hope and strength to get the trails she endured so bravely for the past 5 months.

Betty was the happy heart and soul to this wonderful family.  Family gatherings will never be the same, but her memory and presence will always be with us as we gather together.

Till we all meet again one day in that beautiful better place we will all miss her greatly.
