Betty Jo Powell

Miss Betty Jo Powell, 81 of Flora, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2017 in Peru.  She was born October 30, 1935 in Logansport to Lloyd and Mary Susan (Adams) Powell.
                                                                      
Betty was a 1953 graduate of Carrollton Schools, continued schooling at Franklin College and eventually earned her Masters Degree in Education from Ball State University.  Betty began her teaching career at Lake Cicott schools, and then taught school for Carrollton before retiring from Carroll Consolidated Schools in Flora after over 31 years of teaching.  Betty attended the Burlington Church of Christ and was a supporter of the theatre; particularly the Red Barn Theatre in Frankfort and the Performing Arts Council of Logansport. She also enjoyed and excelled at oil painting and her family was very important to her.

Surviving family includes one sister, Lois Wolf of Colorado; one brother, Bill (Martha) Powell of Deer Creek and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Betty will be held at 1:30p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Genda Funeral Home – Reinke Chapel in Flora with Pastor Dave Osborn officiating.  Interment will follow at Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.
