Betty Louise Thomson Benko, 89, Greentown, formerly of Frankfort,
died at 5:04 p.m. April 27, 2011, at Century Villa Health Care,
Greentown. She was born May 20, 1921, in Flora, to Everett and
Beatrice Dot (Waltman) Tolen. She married Jack Thomson, and they
later divorced. She then married Carl J. Benko on July 15, 1965, and
he preceded her in death July 15, 1966.
She graduated from schools in the Flora area. She was employed
by U.S. Rubber in Mishawaka for seven years until her retirement in
1966. She lived in Kokomo for 23 years, moved to Frankfort in 1990
and then to Greentown in January 2009. She enjoyed crocheting and
was known for her homemade noodles.
She is survived by one daughter Dottie Hadrick, Houston, Texas; one
son, Terry L. (Debbie) Thomson, Greentown; two sisters, Mary
Stevens, Brownsburg, and Lou OâReilly, Delphi; seven
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Miller; one son,
James S. Thomson; and two brothers, Tom Tolen and Joe Tolen.
There will be a private family celebration.
