Bill M. Polston, 85, of Frankfort, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at St. Vincent Heart Center, Carmel.
He was born in Monticello, Ky., on Nov. 11, 1926, to Claude L. and Martha Marie (Lair) Polston. He married Carmeleta Pleasant Dec. 25, 1962. She preceded him in death in March 1996.
Mr. Polston was a tool and die maker for Chrysler, retiring in 1993 after 47 years. A lifetime member of Elks & UAW, he was also a former member of Charity Baptist, Moran.
He served in the US Army during WWII, then served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He also served as a home-room Grandpa at Southside for several grandkids, and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan.
He is survived by four sons: Bill M. Polston Jr. and Timothy L. Polston, both of Florida, Anthony M. Polston of New Castle, and Jack (Lorealee) Moore of Columbus; a daughter: Katherine Moore Crow of Frankfort; seven grandchildren: Kyle, Jeff and James Crow; Justin Polston; and Kristi Arion, Angela Arnold and Melissa Quinn; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Peggy and Vicki.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, and one hour prior to the service, at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Genda Funeral Home, with Pastor David Price officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery with military burial rites.
