Byrd Richardson, Jr.

Byrd Richardson, Jr., 93, Logansport, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.  He was born in Harden County, KY on July 5, 1929, to Byrd and Nancy (Hart) Richardson, Sr.  On April 4, 1952, he married Carol Flora.  She preceded him in death on August 18, 2018.

Byrd was a 1947 graduate of Royal Center High School.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked at Frazie Garage, then for Smith Construction, as a Driveway sealer, and then for the Carroll County Highway Department from which he retired in 1994.  He was a member of the Living Faith Church of the Brethren Church.  He loved to play golf, play the organ and piano, and being outdoors.

He is survived by his children Timothy (Galina) Richardson, Rhonda Cowell, Karen (Bob) Francis, Patricia Vibbert, and Charisse (Chris) Robertson; sister, Kathryn Mills; daughters-in-law, Leslie and Carla Richardson; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steven and Jeffrey Richardson; brothers, William and Dover Richardson; sisters, Luna, Nona and Cora; and a sons-in-law, David Cowell and Troy Vibbert.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 1pm until the time of the service at 3pm at Living Faith Church of the Brethren.  Pastor Guy Studebaker will officiate.  Burial will follow at Zion Citizens Cemetery.  Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made in Byrd’s Honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
