Calvin E. âCalâ Henderson, 91, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born August 25, 1923, in Tippecanoe County, to Harry M. and Lois Peter Henderson. On May 18, 1946, he married D. Jeannette âJanâ Bell; she survives.
Cal served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II obtaining the rank of Corporal. Throughout his life, Cal was a farmer. He served on the Johnson Township Volunteer Fire Dept. for 25 years, as an EMT in Michigantown for nine years, and on the Ag-Max Co-op Board of Directors for 21 years. He was a member of Scottish Rites Valley of South Bend, Beard Lodge 641 since 1957, and American Legion. Cal was the president of PTA, Sunday School Superintendent, and taught Sunday school.
In addition to his wife, Cal is survived by two sons, Gary (Lynn) Henderson of rural Frankfort, and Don (Vicki) Henderson of Forest; six grandchildren, Adam Henderson, Ryan Henderson, Desirae Wintczak, Courtney (Jeremy) Pratt, Keisha Hibbard, Lindsay (Derek) Cloar; and four great grandchildren, Dominik Herron, Presley Herron, Jackson Mixon, and Catch Work Pratt.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Calvin Henderson II, and three sisters, Eleanor Dexter, Lois Mildred Power, and Lola Jean Harner.
Visitation for Cal will be held at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the Masonic service at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Brad Fullerton officiating.
