Carolyn Ruth Igney, 95, formerly of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Zionsville Meadows.
She was born May 22, 1919, in Rossville, the daughter of Orville E. and Mabel G. Peters Steward. On December 11, 1940, she married Robert L. Igney; he preceded her in death on June 1, 1983.
Ruth graduated from Rossville High School in 1937. Directly from high school, she worked at Home Hospital. After marriage, she was a homemaker and taught private piano lessons. Ruth was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort, where she played the piano and played in the hand bell choir. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Circle of Deborah. Ruth was an active volunteer at Wesley Manor for fifteen years and at the Historical Society of Clinton County.
Surviving Ruth are her sons, Gary Michael âMikeâ (Sue) Igney of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert Alan (Rosemary) Igney of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Kate Steward of Fort Wayne, and Mary Etta Igney Sims of Frankfort; four grandchildren, four step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Duane E. Steward.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Justin Fisher will officiate.
