Carolyn Sue Gerard, 80, of Delphi, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi.
She was born May 14, 1934, in Lafayette, the daughter of Emmett âHuckâ and Sarah Mellinger Pearson. On February 1, 1953, she married Jack E. Gerard; he preceded her in death on October 18, 2011.
Sue graduated from Rossville High School in 1952. Sue worked in the Café at Fairfield and Wabash Valley and Blimpieâs. She then owned and operated the Welcome Inn Café in Delphi. Due to her cooking and employment with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, the dining room there was named after The Welcome Inn. She also worked for Thoughtful Impressions but her main profession was being a homemaker and a cook. Sue was a member of the Brethren Church of Pyrmont. She loved to cook, gardening, and her cat, Muffy. She collected bird figurines and enjoyed hummingbirds.
Surviving Sue are her children, Jeffrey (Susan) Gerard of Delphi, and Julie Gerard of Indianapolis; her âother daughter,â Tammy Beckham; two nephews, Mike (Connie) Gerard and Ron (Doris) Gerard; and niece Brenda Welty.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Vicki Lynn Gerard; and son, Ricky Edward Gerard.
Visitation for Sue will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014, from 4-7 pm at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home on Saturday, June 28, 2014, with Pastor Guy Studebaker officiating. Burial will follow in Pyrmont Cemetery.
