Catherine ""Cathy"" B. Sparks

Catherine B. “Cathy” Sparks, 54 of Frankfort passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at her home. She was born December 4, 1962 in Kankakee, IL to John R. “Jack” and Mary Lou (Elkins) Canedy.

Cathy graduated from Pike High School in 1981, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education for Marion College and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development.  Cathy worked for many years at Childcare Answers as a curriculum coordinator and loved working with children and the education system.  She was a member of the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Frankfort where she taught Sunday School, served on the education committee, sang in the chancel choir and was a member of the church’s Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Surviving family includes husband Randy Sparks of Frankfort, one son, John (Brooke) Davis of Mulberry; one grandson, Jameson; stepchildren Brian Sparks of Kirklin and Brad (Carrie) Pickard of Frankfort and their children; two sisters, Loris (Randall) Lane of Fairbury, IL and Kara Down of Rochester, IL; mother-in-law Helen Swihart of Frankfort and several nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life for Cathy will be held at 6:00p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Frankfort and will be officiated by Pastor Pam Ditson-McCall.  Visitation will be held from 4:00p.m. until the time of service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cathy may be made to the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ Cathy Sparks Fund.
