Charles âChuckâ R. LaPlante, 84, of Carroll County, passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at the Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon, Indiana. Charles was born on July 5, 1932 in Lafayette, the son of the late George Arthur and Thelma Fay (Grubbs) LaPlante. On September 5, 1953 Chuck married Mary Adelia (Draper) LaPlante, whom precedes him in death May 6, 2005.
Chuck worked for the United Steel Workers Rockwell International, formally known as Matthews Warren Steel Company. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran who served during Korean and Vietnam Wars and Desert Storm. Chuck was a member of the Delphi VFW #9398 and Delphi American Legion. He loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, scuba diving and CB radios, but he especially loved being with his family and his grandchildren.
Surviving Chuck are his children, Clayton (Tracy) LaPlante, of Bunker Hill, Julie LaPlante, of Florida, Ruth Deck (William Nolen), of Indianapolis, and Douglas LaPlante of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brother, George LaPlante; and sisters, Ruby Lorrain and Jeannie Klappinger.
In addition to his wife, Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Craig, Donny and Darrell.
Services will be on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 2:00pm at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chape in Flora with Pastor Tim Tranberger officiating service. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Monday May 8, 2017 at the funeral home.
