Charles Robert “Chuck” Prater, 73, of Mulberry, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 13, 1952, in Morehead City, Kentucky to Edgar and Maxine (Wolfe) Prater. He married Ruth Kincheloe on June 10, 1978, in Mulberry and she survives.
Chuck served in the United States Army stationed in Korea. He worked at Wabash National for 30 years before retiring in 2018. He was a lifetime member of the Mulberry Conservation Club. He loved watching Western movies, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with his family. He was a hardworking man and a jack of all trades, when he wasn’t working you would find him relaxing and enjoying a Pepsi.
Along with his wife of 46 years, Chuck is survived by his children, Ruth Brumbarger, Bernard “BJ” (Kayla) Prater; siblings Tommy (Judy) Prater, Mary (Phil) Gullett, and Alice Par; and grandchildren, Kevin Brumbarger, Kendra (Kyle) Pierce, Mackenzie Prater, Addison Prater, William LaGrange, Blake LaGrange; and great grandchildren, Liala Brumbarger, Renly Brumbarger, and Beau Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mark Brumbarger; and siblings, Barbara Jean Anderson, Raleigh “Jim” Prater, and Andrew “Andy” Prater.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel. Military rites will be performed by Clinton County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in Chuck’s honor to the Clinton County Humane Society.
