Charles D. Davis, 83, of Forest, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. He was born in Clinton County, Indiana on February 16, 1938, to Milo Dale Davis Sr. and Marjorie Emil (Beard) Davis. He married L. Alice Gilmore on July 7, 1957; she survives.
Charlie was a 1956 graduate of Forest High School. He worked for Haynes Stellite in Kokomo until his retirement. After retirement, he worked for Chester Fertilizer, Kokomo Juvenile Detention Center, drove school bus for Clinton Central, and was Conservationist of the year in 2003. He was a member of Pheasants Forever -where he held many offices, including president, for over 20 years- Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation, and the Quails Forever.
He was a member of the Chain Gang at Clinton Central High School, and for more than 42 years, was a season ticket holder for all sports. He enjoyed working on the farm “Pheasant Heaven” and spent many hours mowing at the farm. He loved hunting; including mushrooms, pheasant, quail, deer, fox, coyote, and other animals that would find their way to the farm.
Surviving with his wife of 64 years, Alice, are his children: Timothy A. Davis (Rose) of Attica, Dawn R. Fearnow (Greg) of Frankfort, and Debra K. Ewing (Brian) of Frankfort; grandchildren: Heather Rusk (Greg), Angie Milner (Adam), Matt Fearnow (Susie), Melanie Hampson (Matt), Chad Fearnow, Kia Rushton (Jeremy), and Maci Matthews (Aaron); great-grandchildren: Nathan, Brenden, Anthony, Sam, Jon, Conlan, Alaina, Caylynn, Karmen, Ella, Hannah, Taylor, Connor, Madison, Claydon, Lucas, Avery, Brantley, Paisley, and Hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Dale, John, and Joe.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with Pastor Shan Sheridan officiating. Private burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Charlie’s honor may be made to Forest United Methodist Church or Pheasants Forever.
