Charles Edward Fry, Sr.

Charles Edward Fry, Sr., 76, Frankfort, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  He was born November 16, 1945 in Lafayette to John and Ruby (Lohrman) Fry.  He married Florence Pettit on November 6, 1983.  She preceded him in death on June 3, 2020.

Charles was a graduate of Carroll High School and worked building modular homes and pole barns and for the State Highway Department in Flora. He attended the Cutler Presbyterian Church, enjoyed playing pool and darts, playing his guitar, listening to records, mushroom hunting, collecting baseball cards and playing and watching baseball.   Charles never met a stranger and loved talking to people, going for walks, and waving at people as they drove by his house on Walnut St.  He really enjoyed the parade that was held in honor of his birthday this past year.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles “Chuck” (Fiance Paula Harshman) Fry, Jr. and Brian Fry; siblings, Jerry (Vanda) Fry, Mary (Eldon) Greer, Laura Metzger, Vinton (Charlene) Fry, Jane (Glendon) Wolfe, June (John) Lillvis, Clara (Misao) Kurayama, and Ruth Kelly; and step-grandchildren, Hayden and Tyeler Brown.

Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Glen (Delores) Fry, and brother-in-law, Orville Metzger, Jr.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 4-7 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Ball Hill Cemetery in Cutler.
