All praise and glory to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! One of His servants, Rev. Charles M. Williams left this world to join his Savior Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
He was born on June 16, 1929 on Father's Day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Hallie & Mary Williams the only son in the family with five sisters. One sister, Hallie Stollenwerk, is alive and well in Wisconsin. As a young man he felt called to the ministry, turning down an offer to try out with the Chicago White Sox. He then attended the Northern Baptist Seminary in Chicago where he received his Masters of Divinity degree and more importantly met Gloria Musser of Pittsburg, PA. They soon married and shared over 50 years of ministry together. Gloria preceded him in glory on December 23, 2009.
Following her death, he entered Wesley Manor where he met Martha Brallier. On September 5, 2010 they were married and shared three years together.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frankfort. He served five American Baptist Churches in three states: In Illinois, The Graymont Baptist Church and the Belleville First Baptist Church; in Indiana, the Franklin Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis; and in West Virginia, the Welch First Baptist Church and the Oakwood Baptist Church in Charleston. He and Gloria retired in Indianapolis and continued to serve interim ministries all over Indiana.
Chuck & Gloria had three children. Charles Jr. and his wife Marilyn serve the First Baptist Church in Frankfort where Chuck was a member the last years of his life. David and his wife Pam serve in ministry in Illinois where David taught and coached in Staunton, Illinois. Patricia married her husband Rick VanderVeen at Franklin Road Baptist in Indianapolis and are currently doing ministry in Texas. All three children were married in services led by their father.
His legacy includes five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild in heaven. The grandchildren are all actively serving the Lord in Ohio, Oklahoma, and here in Indiana.
The service for Chuck will be at the First Baptist Church in Frankfort at 2pm on Saturday, November 16th. Visitation will be for one hour preceding the service. A family dinner will follow. Burial will be at the Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Memorials may be made in his name to the First Baptist Church of Frankfort.
