Charles T. ""Ted"" Corbin

Charles T. “Ted” Corbin departed this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Frankfort.  He was born January 24, 1928, in Elnora to Charles E. and Helen Leone Thompson Corbin.

His early childhood was spent in several Indiana communities as his father was an educator who taught in many small schools.  He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, and went on to Purdue University.  While attending Purdue, he became a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.  In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an MP at Ft. Wayne in Detroit, MI.  Ted was honorably discharged after 18 months of service.  In 1950, he returned to attend Butler University, graduating with a bachelor of science in business and accounting.

On July 30, 1948, he married his “all American sweetheart,” Evetta “Eve” Jane Smith.  Their union lasted nearly 69 years and was blessed with many years of happiness, good friends, and loving family.  Their son, David, was born in 1952, and the birth of their daughter, Debra, followed in 1955.

Ted’s early career was in the building industry in Indianapolis.  He purchased an independent insurance agency in Noblesville in 1975 and grew it to a total of three Hamilton County insurance agencies which ultimately became Corbin-Gillespie Agency.  Ted was a former member of the Board of Directors, Prestressed Concrete Institute, Rotary Club of Indianapolis, Rotary Club of Noblesville, and Sunrisers Kiwanis of Noblesville. He was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church for several years, recently transferring his membership to St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort.

Throughout his life, Ted was an avid golfer, having the opportunity to play in a Pro-Am Tournament.  He and Eve travelled throughout the United States and played at several famous courses.  A fond memory was a visit to St. Andrew’s Golf Club in Scotland.

In addition to his wife, Eve, Ted is survived by his son, David G. Corbin, of Besalt, CO; Debra C. (J. Lewis) Fox, of Frankfort; and four grandchildren, Nathan Frost Corbin, Kea Evetta Corbin, Megan Eileen Gillespie, and Mason Monroe Gillespie.

A celebration of Ted’s life is planned for a future date.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with online condolences directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
