Charles W. Martin, 93, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville.
He was born August 17, 1921, in Carroll County, to Alva and Edna Pritts Martin. On February 11, 1942, he married Lois C. Dilling; she preceded him in death on August 3, 1995.
Charles was a lifelong Rossville resident and attended Rossville Schools. He worked for Bob Irmeger at the Standard Station for about three years before he purchased the business, and it became the Union 76 Station in Rossville. Charles had also driven a truck for 18 years before purchasing the filling station. He enjoyed shooting trap, hunting coons, and raising his coon dogs. Charles also had a love for horses which he raised along with a few hogs. Throughout his life, Charles had visited all 48 states and four providences in Canada.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. Martin-Quinlisk (James) of Rossville, and Patricia A. Martin-Dillman (Richard) of Delphi; three grandchildren, James Quinlisk, Traci Lucas, and Travis Dillman; seven great grandchildren, Brandy Stevens, Kodi Quinlisk, Sharli Ball, Madisyn Dillman, Brayden Dillman, Kayla Hodge, and Keyna Ledford; nine great, great grandchildren, and three step great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Maxine Overton; and granddaughter, Kimberly Judd-Crecque.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Brian White officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
