Charles William McCollum, 92, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida.
He was born December 8, 1923, in Livingston, IL, to Burel Preston and Hazel Emma Perkins McCollum. On September 12, 1946, he married LaRue Miller; she preceded him in death.
Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II as an Aviation Radioman 2nd Class. Bill was long-time resident of Frankfort where he and his wife founded McCollumâs TV until 1985. Charles and LaRue retired to Sebastian, FL. He enjoyed church, family, and his family vacations. Charles loved boating and flying his plane.
Surviving are two sons, Bill (Jan) McCollum and Dennis (Dex) McCollum; daughter, Vickie (John) Geary; brother, Duane (Julia Ann) McCollum; sisters, Mary Ruth Williams; grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Ford, Michael (Tracie) McCollum, Heather (Craig) Gould, Amanda McCollum, Margaret (Eric) Hintz, Laura McCollum, Nathan McCollum, Kristy (Jim) Dixon, and Dustin (Tia) Sterling; great grandchildren, Pacia, Joshua, Gabriel, Gavin, MaKayla, Carley, Lillian, Benjamin, Kylie, Christopher, Greyson, Madeline, and Aubrey; step-grandchildren, Sara (Jason) McAlister and Joe McCollum; step-great grandchildren, Maddie, Austin, and Emily.
In addition to his wife, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jamie Sterling, and step-granddaughter, Regina Biddle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the service at noon. Pastor Gregg Davis will officiate.
