Clara E. Huse

Clara Estella Thompson Huse, 96, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2015.  She lived a fulfilling life as wife, mother, and faithful Christian servant.

She was born in Ervin Township, Cass County, on August 9, 1918, to Albert and Minnie Thompson.  Her formative years were spent in Kokomo where she graduated from Kokomo High School in 1936.  Her mother died when she was nine years old, and she was mentored by neighbors and family friends.  In 1937, she married Raymond L. Huse and moved to the farm in Carrollton Township, Carroll County in the early 1940’s; Mrs. Huse resided there until she became a resident of Chase Center in Logansport four years ago.

Mrs. Huse was a member for over 90 years of the First Baptist Church of Young American where she was active as a church school teacher, choir member, officer and leader among the America Baptist Women in both the local church and the Judson Association.  She assisted in the kitchen and helped with the Lion’s Club meals as well.  Her community involvement included the Carrollton Township Farm Bureau, PTA, and was the first president of the Carroll High School Band Boosters.  She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge in Young American and active for many years in the Grand Temple activities and served as an officer in each.

Mrs. Huse was mother to two sons, Edward, deceased, and Joseph, who resides on the family farm, and grandmother to six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren.

In addition to her son, Edward, Mrs. Huse is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, as well as her brother, Parks Thompson, and sister, Mary Moore.

Visitation for Mrs. Huse will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at First Baptist Church Young America from 9:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. Dr. Joseph Huse and Rev. Marty Pursel will officiate.  Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
