Dale V. Neuenschwander
Dale V. Neuenschwander went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 21, 1931 to Harold W. and Anna (Unruh) Neuenschwander.
Dale spent all eight years of elementary school in Buntin #1, a one-room school in Boone County, then went to Kirklin High School where he graduated in 1949. He went to International Barber School where he graduated and received his license in 1950. In 1951, Dale enlisted in the U S Navy serving most of his time on three different destroyers based on the east coast. While in the Navy, Dale married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ferrell, on July 27, 1952, then on August 29, 1953 their son, Michael J. was born.
After being discharged from the Navy in 1955, the family moved to Kokomo, IN, where Dale barbered until 1961 when they moved back to Kirklin; he was the townâs barber for about 25 years. Leaving the barbering profession, he worked for E & R Manufacturing Company in Kirklin for about 15 years, retiring from that firm in 1998.
Daleâs faith in God was important to him as he was immersed into Christ in 1967 and served at various times as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Teacher and Elder. He enjoyed singing and was blessed to sing at church as a soloist, choir member and song leader. His personal highlight was singing with the Gospel Echoes Quartet which he dearly loved. He has been a member of the West Point Church.
Dale is survived by his wife Pat; son, Michael J., and his wife, Kathleen; three grandsons, Matthew D., Brent W. and his wife, Ashley, and Scott M., one great-grandchild, Alice Mae; and one sister, Glenna Hawkins; along with nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vida Weida, and a brother, LeRoy.
Memorial service will be held on October 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Darren Miracle will officiate. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Any memorials are to be made to West Point Christian Church or the Salvation Army. Online condolences may be directed to gendafuneralhome.com.
