Daniel Allan Remaly, 64, of rural Mulberry, lost his battle after a long fight with incurable cancer, at the Simon Cancer Center on Tuesday, August 30th.
Dan was born July 31, 1952, to Beverly Leopard and Paul Remaly in Clinton County. On August 8, 1976, he married Dania Fairburn; she survives. Throughout his life, Dan was known by many names; Dan the Man, Devil Dan, Dano, and Gomez, used fondly by his brother-in-law.
He attended Clinton Prairie High School. After he worked as a roofer for Sullivan Fortner, he returned to Clinton Prairie Schools in maintenance. He worked as Director of Building and Grounds at the Mulberry Luther Home then in mechanical maintenance at the City of Lafayette, Parks Department - Columbian Park. While at the park, he was always showing up in photos in the newspaper, most notably helping to redo the totem pole and his trip down the Wabash on a raft, Huckleberry Finn style.
Dan was a man of many talents; he could look at a piece of junk and repurpose it into something useful and artistic. Anyone who was ever in his back yard in Mulberry or ""the new place"" can testify to that. He was a lifetime member of the Mulberry Conservation Club and a Mulberry United Methodist Church Trustee. He loved his two sons very much, joyfully sitting on bleachers for hours at a time or sleeping in the cold with the scouts as Assistant Scout Leader. He rejoiced in their many bands and accomplishments.
Dan is preceded in death by his mother, Beverley Remaly; father, Paul Remaly; and sisters, Lisa Remaly and Patty Skinner.
In addition to his wife, Dania, Dan is survived by his sons, Andrew (Blair) Remaly and Tyler (Kasey) Remaly; and his best sisters ever, Becky (Bryan) Frantz, of Dayton, and Connie Robbins, of Frankfort.
