David L. Ballard, 61, a lifelong Frankfort resident, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
He was born December 2, 1951, in Lebanon, the son of Raymond and Melba Dziggel Ballard; his mother survives.
On July 13, 1974, he married the former Vicki A. Major; she survives.
David was a 1970 Frankfort High School graduate where he played baseball. He served in the United States Marine Corp. during Vietnam. David worked as a lab tech for 38 years for Sun Chemical. He was a member of both the American Legion and Friends of the Frankfort Library. David was an avid sports enthusiast who had several games playing on multiple radios at one time. His passion in sports was baseball. In his youth, he played in several local leagues including the American Legion Post 12 Baseball Team who was state runner up in 1970.
In addition to his wife and mother, David is survived by three sons, Brian Ballard of Zionsville, Luke (Karen) Ballard of Indianapolis, and Craig Ballard of Lebanon; two sisters, Rose Jones of rural Frankfort and Sharon Comer of St. Louis, MO; and two brothers, Ray (Janice) Ballard of Lebanon and Don (companion, Annie) of Montezuma.
Visitation for David will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort with military graveside honors.
