David Lee Klingler, 72, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Clinton House and Rehab Center.
He was born March 20, 1943, in Indianapolis, to William Lee and Sylvia Klingler. David married Karen L. Gilberts; she preceded him in death on March 1, 2013.
David was a Staff Sergeant and 20 year veteran of the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam. He dedicated 40 years as a federal fire fighter at Ft. Benning and several other bases. He enjoyed trains, computers, and spending time with his grandchildren. David made friends everywhere he went.
Surviving David are his children, Dan (Tonya) Klingler and Eva Beard; 12 grandchildren, Dylan Flick, Sebastian Klingler, Sabrina Flick, Zackary Klingler, Avryeeana Dowlen, Shelby Jagger, Gavin Klingler, Heather Brittingham, Douglas Gatewood, Charles Beard, and Ariel Beard; eight great grandchildren, Charlie, October, Payton, Damien, Aries, Ivory, Bella, and Everett; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, David is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bobby Klingler; and sister, Sharon Aten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 9:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Marion National Cemetery with military honors. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
