Delano âDeterâ Stewart, 73, of rural Frankfort, died on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 11:50 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born September 15, 1939, in Fullerton, KY, the son of William and Terrice Lillard Stewart.
After moving to Frankfort in 1954, Deter was self employed as a contractor and owner/operator truck driver.
He married the former Roberta Abraham; they later divorced.
Surviving Deter are his companion, Rose Jones; one son, Dennis (wife, Buffy) Stewart of Michigantown; two brothers, Jim Stewart of Kirklin and Jerry Stewart of Tennessee; two sisters, Fay OâNeil of Gallatin, TN, and Brenda Stowers of Frankfort; and six grandchildren, Derek Ross, Ashley Stewart, Aubrey Stewart, Josiah Stewart, Michael Stewart, and Micah Stewart. He was also like a grandfather to Andrew Sparger and Katie Sparger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Diana Stewart; and two brothers, Sterling Stewart and Billy Stewart.
Visitation for Deter will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery.
Memorials in Deterâs name may be made to Clinton County Boys and Girls Club.
