Dennis Eugene Kirkman

Dennis Eugene Kirkman, 64, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born August 12, 1949, in Frankfort, the son of Elmer and Mildred Lykken Kirkman; his mother survives.  Dennis married Norma Jane; she preceded him in death in 1994.  On April 13, 1996, he married the former Sylvia Scott; she survives.

Dennis graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1967; he then studied liberal science at Purdue University.  Throughout his life, Dennis was a truck driver, a bus driver for Frankfort Senior High School, and later worked as a custodian for Suncrest Elementary School.  He was a member of Frankfort Baptist Temple; Dennis enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.

In addition to his wife and mother, Dennis is survived by five sons, Jake Kirkman of Oregon, Travis Kirkman, Caleb Kirkman, Nick Kirkman and Issac Kirkman, all of Frankfort; step daughter, Amanda Toney of Frankfort; one sister, Karen Harris of Frankfort, one brother, Jerry Kirkman of Frankfort; and six grandchildren, Joshua Kirkman, Justin Kirkman, Bailey Kirkman, Danaka Toney, Blake Toney, and Justice Toney.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father.

Visitation for Dennis will be held at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort on Friday, August 30, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Flynn officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.  On-line condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
