Dennis Wayne Shirar

Dennis Wayne Shirar, 57, of Frankfort passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

He was born July 28, 1956, in Frankfort, the son of Ralph and Peg Huffer Shirar.  On January 4, 1975, he married Kimi Lea Maish; she survives.

Dennis graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1974 and furthered his education at the California State University, Sacramento.  Since 1975, Dennis worked for the City of Frankfort Waste Water Treatment Plant becoming Superintendent in 1991 to the present.  He was also the former Chief Operator of Maintenance.  Dennis was a member of Seymour Christian Church and the Moose; he was a former member of the Eagles.

In addition to his wife and mother, Dennis is survived by two daughters, Crystal (Justin) Bryant of Frankfort, and Amanda (Brad) Huddleston of Seymour; one son, Robert John (Kristen) Shirar of Frankfort; one brother, Jackie Lee (Marilyn) Shirar of Frankfort; three sisters, Carrie Gammon (Don Logan) of Jefferson, Pat (Jack) Harshbarger of Frankfort, and Thelma (Lee) Donoho of Frankfort; and seven grandchildren, Lonna Shirar, Gage Shirar, Haven Shirar, Celeste Huddleston, Dunigan Huddleston, Damian Howe, and Nikolas Bryant.  

Dennis is preceded in death by his father and good friend, Jamie Jarboe.

Visitation for Dennis will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Lockman officiating.  Memorials in Dennis’ name may be made to Clinton County Cancer.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
