Donald L. Barkley

Donald L. Barkley, 76, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Forest, Indiana on November 14, 1946, to Robert and Evelyn (Dalrymple) Barkley. He married Barbara J. Ridgley on August 9, 1982, in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2020.

Donald had worked at Marsh Supermarkets in Lafayette as a produce manager and at Little Debbie and Aunt Millie’s Bread as a route delivery driver. He enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets, baseball, and football, but his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family and grandkids.

Surviving Donald are his daughters, Tresa (Skip) Patterson and Bridget Smith of Frankfort, Donna (Terry) Holt of Lafayette, and a son, Donald (Abby) Barkley of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Damon Holt, Nikki, Krista and Cody Louks, and Xander and Briella Barkley;  several great grandchildren that he loved; son-in-law, James Smith; and a sister-in-law, Nina Barkley of Frankfort.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Barkley; mother, Evelyn (Dalrymple) White; sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Tom) Hackerd; brother, Cleo Eugene Barkley and his loving animals, Dippy and Rigley.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 12pm – 1pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Mark Mowery officiating. Burial will follow in the Bunnell Cemetery at Frankfort. Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
