Donald D. Irmeger, 88, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, October 21, at his home.
He was born June 2, 1926, in Carroll County, the son of Martin and Matilda âTillieâ Amstutz Irmeger. On September 17, 1950, he married Nancy M. Stephenson; they were married 64 years.
Don was a member of the Rossville High School Class of 1945. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II. After the service, he was employed at Brown Rubber in Lafayette, then agriculture business in the Rossville Community. After his retirement, Don was a contract painter.
Don was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church. He served on the Rossville Cemetery Association Board since 1957. Don was a 50 year member of the Rossville Masonic Lodge #318, Frankfort York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. He was a member of 40&8 of Lafayette, lifetime member of the American Legion Rossville Post #342, Rossville Lions, and Elks Lodge of Lebanon. He enjoyed fishing in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Florida.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children, Karen (Wayne) Treece of Monticello, Byron Irmeger of Chuluota, FL, and Karla (Jeffrey) Kessler of Rossville; one sister, Phyllis Irmeger Miller of Rossville; five grandchildren, Sean (Heather) Treece of Valparaiso, Kyle (Kendra) Treece of Charlotte, NC, Jordan (Michelle) Kessler of Lafayette, Heather Kessler of Rossville, and Joshua Kessler of Rossville; and four great grandchildren, Riley and Peyton Treece, and Clara and Cain Treece.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Eileen Irmeger Layton.
Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the funeral home with Reverends Ruby Kleymann and John Everett officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church and Rossville Cemetery Association.
