Donald E. Spray Sr., 81, of Mulberry, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community.
Born July 1, 1930, in Clinton County, he was the son of the late James Frederick and Faye Allen Languell Spray. He attended Kirklin School and was a lifelong resident of Clinton County.
He married Nancy Dowden on June 22, 1963, and she survives.
Mr. Spray helped farm in his younger years, worked for ADM for 20 years, retiring in 1992, then worked at C&F as a guard for 10 years.
He was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church and a former member of Moose Lodge in Frankfort.
Mr. Spray was a horseshoe pitcher and won the County Horseshoe Pitcher Award in 2006 and pitched with Curt Day and Sam Payne. He enjoyed bowling.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Donald E. Spray Jr. (wife: Margie) of Flora; a sister, Martha Joyce Sims of Texas, a sister-in-law, Vonda Spray of Lebanon, two grandchildren, Shelby Spray and Josh Spray and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemarie Hendrickson and a brother, Calvin Spray.
Calling will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Genda Funeral Home. Services are 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Genda Funeral Home, Pastor Woody Slade officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
