Donald Jay Vinard, 78, of Frankfort, died on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born June 1, 1934, the son of Russell and Nellie (Meeks) Vinard.
On June 25, 1954, he married the former Glenda Sue Harshman; she survives.
Don retired from Eli Lilly in 1993 as a power house operator. He enjoyed watching Nascar especially Jeff Gordon and IU sports, playing cards, bowling, and riding his motorcycle; he also was an Eagle member.
Also surviving Don are three children, Kim and Roger Clark of Frankfort, Jay and Tina Vinard of Sheridan, and Lisa and Tim Hefling of Frankfort; two sisters, Barbara Vinard of rural Frankfort, and Marileen Kanatzer of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Brandon âB.J.â Vinard, Jennifer Clark, Rachel Clark, Magdalene âMaggieâ Hefling, Timmy Hefling, Jon (Lindsey) Bankert, and Dustin (Meghan) Bankert; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Terry Vinard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Julie Kay Vinard; two brothers, Kenny and Russell âJuniorâ Vinard; and one grandson, Joshua Adam Vinard.
Calling hours for Don will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 11 am until the funeral service at 2 pm. Pastor Eric Simpson will officiate.
Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donâs name may be made to the American Heart Association.
