Donald K. McCarty

Donald K. McCarty, 79, of Michigantown, passed away March 27, 2023, surrounded by his family, at Waters of Lebanon.

A lifelong Clinton County resident, Donald was born September 25, 1943, in Frankfort to Bevon and Roberta (Walker) McCarty.  He was a 1962 graduate of Clinton Central High School.

Donald met Susan Milburn, and they married December 2, 1972, in Michigantown.  She preceded him in death on May 13, 2014.

After a career of 39 years working at Frankfort Times, Donald retired in 2002.  He was a member of Michigantown United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, antiquing, woodworking and being outdoors.

Surviving Donald are his son, David (Angie) McCarty of Forest; daughter, Donna (Chris) Buckley of Noblesville; grandchildren, Cole, Chase and Cy Schimmel; sister, Mona (Darrell) Elsea of Macy; brother, Richard (Dorothy) McCarty of Michigantown; a great-niece and 2 nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 42 years.

Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Pastor Rich Schenck will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Whiteman Cemetery.  Memorials in Donald’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Clinton County Humane Society.  Messages of condolence to the family are welcomed at www.dayandgenda.com.
