Donna Sue Hettinger

Donna Sue (Randolph) Hettinger, 62, went to heaven at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Donna was living at Whispering Pines Rehabilitation Center in Monticello, IN, at the time of her death.

Donna was born on April 11, 1949, in Frankfort, IN, to Randy Randolph and C. Lucille (Peters) Randolph. They are deceased. She graduated from Frankfort Pilgrim High School and was her class salutatorian at Frankfort Pilgrim Bible College. Donna was employed at various times in social services and as a nanny.

Donna married Harry Hettinger on February 14, 1969. Harry's life was cut short in September 2000. Donna and Harry were blessed with a son, Ron Hettinger, of Monticello. Donna was a wonderful mother to Ron, and they loved each other very much. She encouraged him in everything he did, especially his art work. A talented artist herself, Donna was Ron's biggest fan. Ron remembers many happy times camping with his family and traveling across the country.

Donna and Harry were enthusiastic fans of country music performer Ronnie Milsap and became friends with the star through their involvement in his Fan Club.

Donna was a devout Christian and very knowledgeable about the Word of God. Until her health failed, Donna attended the Monticello United Methodist Church and helped teach a Sunday School class for special needs adults.

Donna's life was filled with many hardships and sorrows, but she inspired others through her generally positive outlook and sense of humor. Donna was very friendly and outgoing and made friends wherever she went, Including many faithful friends in the Monticello community.

Friends and loved ones may call from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. Pastor Brian Beeks will conduct her funeral at 3:00. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ron asks that memorials be given to the Wise Men's Tree at Monticello United Methodist Church.
