Dorothea M. âDorothyâ Snyder, age 93 years of Monticello, formerly of Frankfort passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at White Oaks Health Campus in Monticello. She was born August 20, 1923 in Frankfort to Frank and Mabel (Kringle) Campbell.
Dorothy grew up working in the family restaurant and grocery store and devoted much of her adulthood to being a wife and mother. She was also retired from Western Electric Company in Illinois after many years of service. Dorothy loved her rescued puppies and also spending time with her grand, great and great-great grandchildren; attending their sporting and school events when possible. She enjoyed playing the penny slots at the casino and card games with candy and a Pepsi. During her time at White Oaks Health Campus she enjoyed Friday Night Happy Hour and Saturday BINGO games with her fellow residents.
In 1941, Dorothy married Charles T. Snyder, with whom she celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary, before his death on October 12, 1994. Dorothy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Campbell and Harold Campbell and one sister, Beverly Hardesty.
Surviving family includes one son, Stanley âDeanoâ (& Linda) Snyder of Monticello; daughter, Sally (& Kenny) Mitchell of Frankfort; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Schroeder of Clinton, Iowa.
The funeral service for Dorothea M. âDorothyâ Snyder will be held at 1:00p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to your local Humane Society.
