Dorothy Frances (Crum) Beets, 100, of Frankfort, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She was born in Clinton County on February 5, 1921, to Earl and Bessie Anna (Cox) Crum. She married Rex H. Beets on September 28, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2008 after 67 years of marriage.
Dorothy was a life-long resident of Clinton County, growing up in the Beard and Hopewell communities. She had attended grade-school in Beard and was a 1939 graduate of Michigantown High School (where she was the last surviving member of her class). Dorothy was a member of the Eastern Star and Hopewell United Methodist Church where she joined the church at the age of 12. She played both the organ and piano at church, home, and Wesley Manor. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, sewing (making many of her children’s clothes), but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She always had a smile for all of her many grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Velma Smith, Joyce Goodnight of Frankfort, Norman (Carolyn) Beets of Lafayette, Linda Jobe of Kirklin, Julia (Larry) Crabtree of Frankfort, David Beets of Bloomington, Raymond (Lonnie) Beets of Cherry Valley, Illinois, Bonnie (Frank) Harness of Antioch; brothers, Richard Crum of Michigantown and Max Crum of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Peggy Matzen, Jeff Smith, Diane Raley, Carol Smith, Kevin Goodnight, Tony Goodnight, Chelsea Beets, Jerrid Jobe, Matthew Heavilon, Michael Heavilon, Anthony Beets, Zach Beets, Tyrel Harness, Cody Harness, and Logan Harness; 25 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Beets; sister, Mary (Crum) Pickering; brothers, Cloyd Crum, Edwin Crum, and Wayne Crum; sons-in-law, Tom Smith and Wayne Jobe; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Beets.
