Dorothy Maxine Holsinger, 90, of Rossville, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Milner Community Healthcare Assisted Living.
She was born January 17, 1925, near Robins, Iowa, to John Edward and Elizabeth Boyd Holsinger.
Dorothy moved in 1938, at the age of 13 from Iowa, to the North Fork District of Indiana. She joined the North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church on June 10, 1945, being baptized by Elder Morris Wagoner. She then moved with her parents into the Middle Fork District in the town of Rossville in 1966. Dorothy worked at Wagonerâs Butcher Shop before taking a bookkeeping course. She then was the bookkeeper for Eagle Lumber Dealers Supply in Lafayette. In 1988, she retired to become the caregiver for her parents. After her parentsâ deaths, she lived in the Rossville Trailer Park before moving to Assisted Living at Milner Community Healthcare Center in May, 2013. In her retirement, Dorothy sewed garments for sisters, blessing many with her fine skill of dress making. In her later years, she kept busy by crocheting doilies to give away.
Surviving are her brother, Frank âLeRoyâ Holsinger; nephews, Dennis (Maralee) Holsinger and Roger (Colleen) Holsinger; niece, Catherine (Donald) Bowman; several great nieces and nephews, and several great, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Holsinger.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 3:00 â 7:00 p.m. at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating.
