Dorothy Susan Barrick, 94, of Pyrmont, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born September 10, 1921, in Rossville, to Oather and Lucy Reavis Myers. On November 21, 1942, she married Lewis D. Barrick; he passed away on December 23, 2014.
Dorothy grew up in the Rossville area before moving to the Buck Creek area. She moved to Pyrmont in 1986. Dorothy was a farm wife and former volunteer. Her volunteer work, especially with St. Annâs Soup Kitchen in Lafayette and Milner Community Health Care Center, was greatly enjoyable to Dorothy. She was also a cook at Buck Creek and East Tippecanoe Schools for nine years. Dorothy was a member of the North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Dean (Karen) Barrick of Pyrmont, and Jay Lynn (Debra) Barrick of Buck Creek; two granddaughters, Mandy (Chuck) Murray and Darcy (Shawn) Keegan; two step granddaughters, Stephanie (Kirk) Saylor and Jennifer (Nic) Myers; four great grandchildren, Daymia, Jayden, Elijah, and Adah; eight step great grandchildren, Breanna, Payten, Griffey, Kelton, Quynten, Lukas, Matthew, and Merisa; and one great, great grandson, Nash.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Myers, Floyd Myers, and Walter Myers; and two sisters, Edna Lewis and Mary Alice Nead.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
