Eddie L. Perkins

Eddie L. Perkins, 65, of Colfax, passed away on March 26, 2022, at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette.

Born December 1, 1956, in Sydney, Ohio, Eddie was the son of Odis and Dorothy (Walls) Perkins.  He married Kristi Michner, and they divorced. 

Eddie graduated in 1974 from Wainwright High School in Lafayette.  He was a long-time union roofer for Smithers Roofing in Indianapolis where he had been an apprentice, journeyman, and then foreman.  He later worked as a maintenance supervisor for CanAm Steel.  Eddie put his knowledge to work by painting and working on cars and restoring old gas pumps.  Before his father passed away, they would spend time rebuilding Model A and Model T cars.  He also loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving Eddie are his children, Levi Perkins, Jordan Perkins, Micaiah (Jenny) Perkins and Kelsey (Andrew) DeForest; sister, Rita Ekola; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Jessie Lagoy.

Memorial visitation will be Sunday, April 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
