Edith E. Rothenberger, 94, of Corydon, Ind., formerly of Mulberry, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Indian Creek Health and Rehab Center.
She was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Glasgow, Ky., to the late William and Lela Cary Goode.
She moved to Mulberry at the age of 8, and moved to Corydon, in 2006. She graduated from Mulberry High School in 1933.
She married Howard J. Rothenberger on May 29, 1936. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1993.
She worked at Purdue University as a cook in the Memorial Union for 15 years and in food services at the Purdue Airport.
She was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church, Methodist Women's Group (MWSCS), Mulberry Eastern Star, Women Club of Mulberry and served as a Cub Scout leader
Surviving is a daughter, Gail Bays Groote (husband: Peter) of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Boyd A. Rothenberger (wife: Charlene) of Indianapolis and David L. Rothenberger (wife: Kay) of Lafayette; one sister, Patricia Culbertson of Haynes City, Fla.; and two brothers, Cecil Goode of Glasgow and Samuel Goode of Sholow, Ariz.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lera Goode, Lucille Swank, Christeen Reynolds and Marie Thomas; and one brother William Goode.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Bodine Funeral Home, Mulberry, officiating will be Pastor Dave Hummell. Burial will be at Fair Haven Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at Bodine Funeral Home in Mulberry. In Lieu of Flowers, Mulberry Methodist Church
