Eileen L. Kidd, 100, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette.
She was born January 26, 1917, in Fairbanks, IN, to Clyde B. and Lois Fern Carrithers Thomas. She married Glen Dale Kidd on May 16, 1943 in New Richmond; he preceded her in death on March 15, 1985.
Eileen graduated from Sullivan High School in 1935 and earned a BS degree in home economics at Purdue. Eileen taught home economics at Coal Creek Township in Wingate and New Richmond High Schools in Montgomery County for 4 years. She later worked at Purdue University in the Foods and Nutrition Department as a lab tech for 20 years, retiring in 1979.
Eileen was a former member of the Linden Eastern Star and had attended New Richmond United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, a great cook and enjoyed knitting. She loved spending time with her family and time in her rose garden.
Surviving Eileen are her daughters, Sandra Cohee, of Monticello, Martha âMartyâ (Rick) Sims, of Brookston; sons, Thomas (Marcia), of State College, PA, William (Roxie), of Remington, Charles âDavidâ (Velvet), of Rossville; sister in law, Patricia Thomas of Little Rock, AR; ten grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Eileen is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Thomas; son-in-law, Ron Cohee; and one great-grandson, Andrew Mann.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services for Eileen will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Raschka officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery. Memorials in Eileenâs name may be made to the Rossville Library.
