Elizabeth Sandifur, 92, of Rossville, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at her home.
She was born January 28, 1923, in Belle County near Middlesboro, KY, to William and Mae Allen Miracle. On March 1, 1943, she married Lee Sandifur; he preceded her in death on January 15, 2001.
Elizabeth moved to Rossville in 1971 after being raised in Middlesboro and then living 14 years in Lafayette. She worked for 20 years in the laundry department at Lafayette Home Hospital before retiring in 1985. Elizabeth was an active member of East Tipp Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving Elizabeth are her children, Marvin W. (Donna) Sandifur of rural Delphi, Elmer Lee (Vicki) Sandifur of Lafayette, Wanda J. (Edward) Green of Apache Junction, AZ, and Phyllis A. (Rollin) Young of Rossville; one sister, Ellen Saylor of rural Rossville; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William I. Sandifur and Gregory L. Sandifur; and two sisters, Myrtle and Josephine.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Joel Flowers officiating.
