Ella Kathryn Davis, 86, of Mulberry, died on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community from complications of Alzheimerâs. She was a resident there for three years.
She was born May 3, 1926, in Mulberry, the daughter of Ray N. and Alta Marie Lawson Whitteberry.
On September 12, 1946, she married William H. Davis in Mulberry; he preceded her in death in May of 2011.
Ella graduated from Mulberry High School in 1944. Along with her husband, she was owner and operator of Davis Jewelers in Mulberry for 50 years. She was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years and was treasurer for ten years. Ella was also a member of the Community Club, was active in the former Garden Club of Mulberry, and was a member of the Mulberry Town Board.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy M. (Richard) Cottrell of Royal Center; one sister, Wilma Louise Weaver of Mulberry; and two grandsons whom she loved dearly, Jason W. Cottrell of Mulberry and Nathan L. Cottrell of Chicago, IL.
In addition to her husband, Ella was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Albert L. Whitteberry and Ray Junior Whitteberry, and a niece.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Funeral services for Ella will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Community Room with the Rev. Nancy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.
