Elmer E. Miller, 96, of Rossville, passed away on August 7, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Delphi.
He was born July 20, 1917, in Cerro Gordo, Illinois, the son of Abe and Lizzie Wagoner Miller. Elmer married the former Margaret L. Kinzie on September 4, 1938 in Delphi; she survives.
Elmer attended Rossville High School. He moved to Carroll County in 1940 and was a farmer until retiring in 1979. He was a member of the North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Along with his wife, Elmer is survived by three daughters, Loretta (Gerald) Flora of Rossville, Judy (Max) Welk of Rossville, and Joyce (Rick) Root of Rossville; one sister, Faye Kessler; one sister-in-law, Lydia Kinzie; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Elmer is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Miller; one sister-in-law, Edna Beery; three brothers-in-law, John Beery, Everett Kinzie, and Calvin Kessler; one son-in-law, Doran Hufford; and two step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from Friday, August 9, 2013, from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. The funeral service for Elmer will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating.
